Board of trustees

Angus Davison – Chair

Angus is the Chair and founder of Haygrove, the fruit-growing business and also chair and founder of Haygrove Community Gardens. The inspiration and drive behind the charity, Angus brings business expertise, horticultural and agricultural knowledge and above all a passion for our work.

Tim Crossman - Trustee

Tim runs Haygrove Garden Tunnels, providing small scale tunnels to gardeners, schools, nurseries and community projects. He brings a wealth of practical and business experience, energy and enthusiasm.

Sara Roberts – Trustee

Sara is an HR specialist and supports the day-to-day running of the charity. Her extensive HR knowledge is essential to support our army of volunteers. Sara also brings her creative flair to the charity, and her experience of caring for a relative with additional needs.

Sarah Francis – Company Secretary

Sarah is the safe pair of hands guiding the governance of the Charity and ensuring that we are operating fairly. legally and ethically.

Cath Baker - Project Director/Driver

Cath is interested in the difference that being outside and around plants and nature can make to people’s well-being. With 30 years experience working in the voluntary sector, she has worked with adults, children and young people with disability and disadvantage, by facilitating access to green spaces and therapeutic activities that bring people closer to nature. Cath aims to expand the amazing work of the charity by reaching out to, and inspiring, businesses and communities to get involved.

Tim Shelley - Development Director

Tim is passionate about community. A place where people can feel safe, valued, supported, connected and part of something and not alone. His hope is that we can do that through our therapeutic green spaces that we have created. Tim started the Community Garden in Ross-on-Wye in 2013 and now uses his expertise to support future projects in and around Herefordshire. Tim was previously a Baptist Minister leading churches in a number of market towns. 

Kathryn Porteous - Community Gardens Assistant

Kathryn describes herself as a seasoned gardener and personal development coach with a commercial business background. She is passionate about supporting people to thrive, particularly in challenging times and situations.  Kathryn is RHS trained and a skilled facilitator and coach.

Kris Ehmer - Children and Young People's Worker

Kris has recently joined our team to work with children and young people in our Community Garden in Ross. With a background in outdoor education and social work, Kris is enthused by the therapeutic and educational opportunities that community gardens can offer and will be working with local schools and youth groups to encourage more children and young people to connect with nature and our environment.

Helen Saunders - Community Garden Manager (Ross)

Helen is a gardener and nature enthusiast with a passion for community engagement and the outdoors.  She enjoys teaching people about the joys and health benefits of being outside and appreciating the natural world.  She is also passionate about reducing food waste and about the benefits of growing and eating real food.  Her work background is varied and she has lived across the UK, in Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland, as well as a brief stint in California.
